Sparados Launches the 0% Card to Eliminate Currency Conversion Costs for Global Businesses

Cross-border business payments have long been associated with hidden fees, manual currency exchanges, unpredictable spreads, and operational friction. Today, Sparados is introducing a new approach to international business spending: the 0% Card.

Officially known in banking terminology as a spread-free card or a card with direct conversion, the 0% Card (Zero Spread Card) is designed to simplify international payments for modern companies operating across multiple markets.

Unlike traditional multi-currency cards that require users to manually exchange funds, maintain several currency wallets, and predict future exchange rates, the Sparados 0% Card automates the entire process in real time.

For businesses managing international operations, the new solution effectively eliminates currency barriers.

Sparados 0% Card for international businesses

Why We Need a New Generation of Business Payment Cards

Traditional international business cards often come with hidden foreign exchange margins, additional transaction fees, and operational complexity. Businesses typically need to:

  • Open multiple sub-accounts

  • Exchange currencies in advance

  • Monitor fluctuating exchange rates

  • Predict future spending needs

  • Pay conversion spreads and banking commissions

The Sparados 0% Card removes these barriers.

The card is funded directly from a EUR/USD or CHF business account. Whenever a transaction occurs in other currencies, the amount is converted instantly at the live Mastercard exchange rate — without additional bank spread or conversion commission.

This means companies no longer need to “buy currency” before traveling or paying suppliers abroad. Instead, the conversion happens automatically at the exact moment of the transaction.

How the 0% Card Works

The concept behind the Sparados 0% Card is simple:

One Account. No Currency Conversion Costs. Zero Friction.

A company keeps its balance in EUR/USD or CHF. When a payment is made in any other currency, Sparados automatically converts the exact amount needed using the Mastercard mid-market exchange rate.

This process is fully automated and happens in real time. And there are:

  • No additional bank markups

  • No hidden spreads

  • No manual exchanges

  • No extra currency accounts

  • No conversion commissions

For businesses, this eliminates one of the most frustrating problems of traditional multi-currency banking: timing the currency exchange market.

Why Traditional Multi-Currency Cards Are Becoming Obsolete

Multi-currency cards were originally introduced as a solution for travelers and international companies. However, they created a new layer of operational complexity.

Users needed to:

  • Open multiple currency sub-accounts

  • Exchange money manually

  • Decide when to buy foreign currency

  • Predict future travel and payment needs

This approach exposed companies to currency risk. If the exchange rate moved unfavorably after purchasing currency, businesses lost money before even making the transaction. The Sparados 0% Card changes this model completely.

Eliminating the “Empty Wallet” Problem

Traditional multi-currency systems create another common issue: insufficient balance in the correct currency wallet.

For example, a company may hold:

  • $1,000 in a USD wallet

  • but receive a charge of $1,005

The result?

  • Transaction declines

  • Additional conversion fees

  • Emergency transfers between accounts

With the Sparados 0% Card, this issue disappears entirely. As long as the company has sufficient balance in the currency the account is held, payments in other currencies can be processed automatically. There are no “currency buckets” to manage.

This makes the Sparados card particularly valuable for:

  • business travelers,

  • exporters,

  • importers,

  • startups,

  • SaaS companies,

  • and international teams.

Real-Time Conversion: A Major Competitive Advantage

One of the strongest features of the 0% Card is real-time conversion.

Most business cards use exchange rates determined earlier in the day or apply internal bank pricing models with hidden margins. The Sparados card instead uses the Mastercard exchange rate at the exact moment of payment.

This creates several advantages:

  • Businesses gain more transparency

  • Companies avoid unfavorable pre-purchased rates

  • Finance teams reduce administrative workload

  • Cash flow management becomes easier

  • International spending becomes more predictable

  • For CFOs and finance managers, this can significantly improve operational efficiency.

Comparison of Currency Conversion Costs: Banks vs. Sparados

If a company purchases currency through a standard, automated transfer from a EUR account to a foreign currency account (without using an e-exchange platform), banks impose a high spread.

Hidden Cost: The margin in exchange rate tables for corporate clients is typically between 2% and even 4% of the transaction value.

Example: Here is an example based on the exchange rate of 1 EUR = 4.26 PLN.

At this market rate, a value of 1,000 PLN is worth exactly 234.74 EUR (\(1,000 / 4.26\)).

If a company initiates a standard, automatic transfer from its EUR account to a PLN account (without using an e-FX platform) to deliver exactly 1,000 PLN, the bank applies its own corporate exchange rate table. With a hidden margin of 2% to 4%, the bank artificially lowers its EUR purchase rate, forcing the company to spend more EUR for the same amount of PLN.

  • Scenario 1: The bank's hidden margin is 2%

    • Instead of the market rate of 4.26 PLN, the bank processes the transaction at 4.1748 PLN per 1 EUR.

    • To deliver 1,000 PLN, the bank deducts 239.53 EUR from the company's account (\(1,000 / 4.1748\)).

    • Company's loss: 4.79 EUR (equivalent to approx. 20 PLN).

  • Scenario 2: The bank's hidden margin is 4%

    • Instead of the market rate of 4.26 PLN, the bank processes the transaction at 4.0896 PLN per 1 EUR.

    • To deliver 1,000 PLN, the bank deducts 244.52 EUR from the company's account (\(1,000 / 4.0896\)).

    • Company's loss: 9.78 EUR (equivalent to approx. 40 PLN).

Summary: When converting EUR to obtain 1,000 PLN through standard banking channels, the company unknowingly loses between 4.79 EUR and 9.78 EUR solely on the bank's spread, despite the official transaction fee being 0 PLN.

Sparados 0% Card Performance (0% Spread)

When compared to standard banking channels, using the Sparados 0% Card completely eliminates the hidden currency conversion costs.

Based on the market rate of 1 EUR = 4.26 PLN, here is how the financial outcome compares directly to the bank results:

  • Exchange Rate Applied: 4.26 PLN per 1 EUR.

  • Amount Deducted: To deliver exactly 1,000 PLN, the 0% Card deducts exactly 234.74 EUR from your account (\(1,000 / 4.26\)).

  • Sparados Conversion Loss: 0.00 EUR.

Key Advantages of the Sparados 0% Card for Businesses:

  • Immediate Savings: On a small transaction of 1,000 PLN, you save up to 9.78 EUR. If your business scales this to 100,000 PLN in monthly card expenses, the savings increase to 978 EUR per month.

  • Transparency: Traditional banks hide their profit within an artificially adjusted exchange rate table. At Sparados, the amount is transparently converted instantly at the live Mastercard exchange rate.

A Practical Business Example

Imagine a CEO based in Germany traveling to Warsaw for meetings with clients and partners. The hotel invoice amounts to 1,200 PLN.

Traditional Banking Approach

The bank might:

  • apply a 3% FX spread,

  • add a foreign transaction fee,

  • and use an unfavorable exchange rate.

Sparados Zero Spread Approach

The card:

  • checks the live Mastercard market rate,

  • converts the exact EUR equivalent,

  • settles the payment instantly,

  • and applies 0% spread and 0% commission.

The process is seamless and fully automated.

Important Advice: Always Avoid Dynamic Currency Conversion (DCC)

Even with a spread-free card, businesses should remain cautious when paying abroad.

At many terminals or ATMs, users may see a prompt asking:

“Would you like to pay in EUR or local currency?”

The correct choice is almost always:

Pay in the local currency.

Why?

If the user chooses EUR, the merchant’s bank performs the conversion using Dynamic Currency Conversion (DCC), often applying a significantly worse exchange rate.

This bypasses the "Zero Spread" advantage entirely.

Choosing the local currency ensures the Sparados card can apply the Mastercard exchange rate with 0% spread.

Designed for International Businesses

The 0% Card has been designed specifically for companies operating internationally.

Key target groups include:

  1. Exporters and Importers

Businesses earning revenue in EUR while paying suppliers in PLN or USD can reduce FX costs significantly.

  1. Tech Startups

Startups funded in EUR often pay:

  • SaaS subscriptions in USD,

  • developers in PLN,

  • contractors internationally.

The 0% Card simplifies these operations without maintaining multiple accounts.

  1. Business Travelers

Executives traveling all over the world gain predictable spending without worrying about currency conversion.

  1. Foreign Companies Operating in Poland

International firms with operations in Poland can simplify local expenses while maintaining centralized EUR liquidity.

The Future of Borderless Business Spending

The launch of the Sparados 0% Card reflects a broader shift happening in financial services. By removing hidden conversion spreads, eliminating the need for manual currency exchanges, and enabling seamless real-time settlement across all currencies, the solution addresses many of the long-standing inefficiencies associated with traditional multi-currency banking.

In an increasingly interconnected business environment, the Sparados 0% Card offers a smarter, more streamlined way for organizations to manage international spending — allowing them to focus less on currency logistics and more on growth, expansion, and day-to-day business performance.
