Wondering if it's possible to block your employee from making payments at grocery stores or casinos? Sparados has a new option for creating spending categories, allowing you to assign your card to a category that will only allow payments at selected locations. This allows for even greater control and better budget management, as users can now specify exactly what and where their card funds will be spent. Additionally, this feature makes it easier to track expenses by category, helping with savings and financial planning.
This tutorial will guide you step by step through setting up such a category.

To create a new spending category, first go to the settings on the homepage.

Next, go to the "Spending Categories" tab, where you can see the system categories we have already created!

Here you will find categories such as gastronomy, airlines, hotels and accommodations, etc. These categories cannot be edited.
Creating your own category is very simple and takes only about 10 minutes.
In the "Spending Categories" tab, click on the "Add Spending Category" button.

Give your category a name and a short description, and specify whether the codes you select will be on the whitelist of your category (accepted) or on the blacklist (rejected).

Below you will find the complete list of MCC codes you can choose from. Now is the time! Customize the category to your needs!

If you have a file with the codes you want to use to restrict your card, you can also upload it in the field at the bottom of the page. The categories will be selected automatically, but any selections not included in the list will be deselected. If you want to manually add a category that is not in the list, do this as the final step.

Now assign the card. If you don’t know how to do this, read the tutorial: How to issue a card in Sparados?
When assigning the card, there is a field below the card view for setting spending categories. You can either choose one of your previously created categories or select from the pool of categories provided by us. These will appear when you expand the list. From here, you can also create a new category by clicking the blue plus sign below the list.

The assigned card can now only be used in the specified categories, which are always visible in the card details. If you attempt to pay for a service that is not included in the selected category, the transaction will simply be declined.
